We perform a wide range of tests on soil and groundwater samples. A list of routine tests performed can be found below. Please contact us for specific requirements and a price list.
Classification Tests
- Moisture Content
- Atterberg Limits (Liquid and Plastic Limits)
- Particle Size Distribution (Wet & Dry Sieves, Hydrometer Tests)
- Bulk Density
- Specific Gravity (set of two tests)
- Laboratory Permeability
Shear Strength Tests
- Undrained triaxial test - single 30mm or set of three 38mm diameter
- Undrained triaxial test - single or multi-stage 100mm diameter
- Functional triaxial test - set of 3 38mm diameter specimens
- Effective Shear Strength
- Shear Box
Consolidation Tests
The oedometer consolidation test is used for the determination of the consolidation characteristics of soils of low permeability. It invloves applying a sequence of loading to a specimen and measurements made over a period of time. The results can give an indication of the amount of settlement, typically of a low permeability clay soil, which is likely to occur over time.
- Oedometer Consolidation
- Consolidation/Dissipation in triaxial cell
Compaction Tests
- BS 2.5kg Compaction
- BS 4.5kg Compaction
- BS Vibrating Hammer Compaction
- California Bearing Ratio
Chemical Tests
- pH in soil and groundwater
- Water soluble Sulphate content in soil and groundwater
- Organic Content
